I would like to know an approximate amount of sugars and carbohydrates are in a blood glucose test for gestional diabetes. I’ve had it with the first pregnancy and now with the second and the count was very high (over 200). It was the orange liquid I had to drink (both times). It looked like it was a little more than a cup of liquid. Thanks for your help.

I am 34 weeks pregnant, and just got my 3 hour glucose test results back. Can someone tell me if they look normal or not (do they worry about the numbers being so low)? Also, my midwife didn’t order the urine, but they did it anyway. I heard that sugar spilling into urine is normal in pregnancy, and the ONLY time this has happened is during the test (I had my checkup yesterday, and no glucose). My midwife says this looks great, but to me (not a doctor, lol) it looks low.

this was he 100g glucose.

Fasting: 82
Fasting Urine: Negative

1/2 Hour blood: 137
1/2 Hour urine: Trace

1 Hour blood: 89
1 Hour urine: 2+

2 Hour blood: 114
2 Hour urine: Trace

3 Hour blood: 49
3 hour urine: Negative

blood sugar?

hi, does anyone have any idea what your average blood sugar level should be, i had mine checked recently and it was 3.7, aparantly this is a bit low? what would cause this and could i have diabetes relating to my pregnancy? (im 20weeks). sorry to ask so many Q’s, i just don’t think you recieve enough info from doctors and midwifes! maybe just mine?

IF my blood test is high do i have to do the glucose drink test? I am 34 weeks i have had this blood test done before and it was high on the normal side.
I dont mean to be funny but if they turn around and say i have gestational diabetes it really shouldnt affect much as i have got this far through pregnancy and now the doctors might give you diet sheets and your classed as high risk, bit weird if you ask me

I was supposed to go have my blood work done for the gestational diabetes test between now and my last appointment. They gave me the lab slip and I just never went. I have an appointment this week and now I’m not sure what to do? Does EVERYONE need this done? I think I am having a completely normal pregnancy. I’m 29 weeks pregnant and this is my 2nd baby.

I already know I am hypoglycemic and burn blood sugar very fast often resulting in low blood sugar. What would happen if my blood sugar levels came back lower than normal after my prenatal glucose test? Would they make me do they 3 hour test like they do for women whos blood sugar is abnormally high? Just curious, I never had this test done with my first pregnancy.

Im 29 weeks pregnant and was supposed to have my routine 28 week blood glucose test, but i was throwing up and couldn’t keep down the sugary drink that’s needed for the test. I’ve had severe nausea and vomiting my entire pregnancy. What if this keeps happening and i don’t get the test? How long can i leave it without the results being affected. Is there any other way of testing for it without my needing to drink that disgusting sugar water?

I am 25 weeks pregnant. Last week I went for the 24 week Blood Glucose test where they prick the finger. I did not have to fast at all that day- but I had to drink a nasty orange drink (sugar water). My blood sugar result was 143. 140 is the cut off. Now I have to go for a 3 hour blood test where I have to drink that sugar water & have blood drawn every hour for 3 hours. I hear if I pass 2 out of 3 I am ok.
What do you think my chances are of developing/having gestational diabtetes? I am 30 yrs old, its my 1st pregnancy and I am pretty healthy & at a healthy weight. So far, I only gained 8 lbs.
I get sooo nervous for these tests and it always seems like I am failing them- always have to re-do the tests. What a pain! :(
Please write back. Do u think 143 is that bad?? Think after fasting for the 12 hours- My blood sugar will be better then the 143???
Thanks for your time & help! Its much appreciated!! :)

I went for my diabetes and iron checkup today at my OB. I am now pregnant at 29 weeks with my first baby on the way. Well I had to drink that really sweet concentrate, they changed the flavor to a fruit punch which was not really that bad. I don’t know how the orange flavor was because they changed it after people said the fruit punch is better! Anyway I drank the stuff an after an hour had my blood taken. Then the Technician put a drop of my blood in the glucose and iron reader. Within a bit the readers beeped. My glucose level showed 90. The tech said that anything over 140 is bad or too high. Well in that case is my level low then or normal?
Also the tech told me that iron should be at 10.2 level, well mine was at 10.8. Is that fine too? I ask cause some pregnancy sites on Internet are showing that the levels should be 2.0 and over. Anyone know about these readings and my glucose and iron levels?

Is 85 Blood Glucose level after fasting is ok during pregnancy
