I know these numbers are a bit higher. My question is, Can i control my diabetes with diet and exercise or should i go on medicine, most diabetes meds i have used has all caused me to go into hypoglycemia, so im very worried abt going on any meds. Please suggest/comment.
Thanks
I was just doing some reading about the glycemic index. The high glycemic foods cause a sudden spike and fall of the consumer’s blood sugar level which makes them feel hungry shortly after.
Now, since diabetics can’t produce or don’t produce enough insulin…. Meaning that they have high blood sugar if they don’t take their medicine. So, putting 2 and 2 together, and untreated diabetic would never feel hungry, correct?
my friend’s uncle is diabetic and simply doesn’t take care of himself. is there a way to bring his blood sugar back down from being so high without taking a medicine for it?
i know he SHOULD take care of himself, but nobody can make him, so please don’t nag me ![]()
we’re looking to see if there’s a way we can bring it down NOW (because he is dizzy and his eyes are really blurry and he can’t see really well right now) instead of over time (though that helps as well)
Diabetes Testing Result?
05/07/10
I just learned that I’m diabetic, and been testing myself 2-3 times a day for several days now. Here’s the result, and I wanna see what you guys think.
At morning, it’s usually 80 to 95
Eat breakfast, goes to 130 or so, and than take my metformin (1000mg)
Work, 5 hours later, lunch. Numbers varies from 140 to 170 cause I eat a lot.
Than 5 hours later, dinner. Numbers varies, depending if I eat higher carb items like rices but the last few nights, around 122 to 150. I spike once to 200 with rices.(than 1k mg of medicine)
Maybe a snack before bed, though I don’t test.
I test these all of them one day and tested from every 10 minutes after i started meal to see what my number peaks are at. I’ve read that it should be 180 or less after a meal, and test 1 or 2 hours after eating. Well, my highest number happen to be at 30 minutes and 50 minutes. SHould I trust those numbers? At 2 hours, It goes to fasting numbers.
Thanks.
p.s: my medicine is a 12 hours differences, 2000mg a day. But eat and test before I take the medicine.
Thanks, I already research pretty badly on this subject. As for diets, I’m attempting what I think is best, and the results aren’t that bad. Losing 15 pounds in 3 weeks, numbers (imo) is well within normal. Plus, 2 hours after meal? That’s not what works best for me. 2 hours for me would be back at fasting level, because I process food pretty damn fast so the peak glucose result is usually at 30 to 1 hours. And I got no doctor to go talk to, expensive and no insurance. So, I’ll have to make do with what I learn. Thanks all.
My doctor told me not to take my medicine more than I’m supposed to. I have type II and I take glyburide. She said if it’s over 250 to call her, but 170 after 4 hours of food is above normal!!!
She said NOT to exercise if it’s high.
My mamas blood sugar is 232- should I take her to the hospitol? Her medicine has lowered it only a tiny bit. She can’t walk, its like she is drunk, and she is throwing up….what can i do to helP?
I started Avandamet about 3 weeks ago and my fasting level in the morning is usually between 140 & 170. I don’t know if the medicine is working yet or not. I thought it should be around 110????
My grandmother’s blood sugar has been int he 450’s area for about 4 days, now. Nothing we do, makes it go down. Is there something she should be doing?
She’s on a bunch of medicine from the doctor’s to try and lower it, but it doesn’t seem to be helping.
If a diabetic, who is not on medicine, but is doing exercise and a non-diabetic person eat the same time, same food with carbohydrates, can they be both have same blood sugar level when they both test it after eating?
A month ago, i was diagnosed with diabetes due to my sugar level of around 290. I have maintained it for the past few weeks using some western medicine like glucophage. My last test of blood was 190. i had urine exam today, and my result came out as negative. What does it mean? Do i have diabetes or not? My urine isnt bubbly, im not thirsty, my wounds heal in normal way. My body did suddenly become thinner though. Can anyone please give me an advice? thank you!
