I’ve been taking amoxicillin also and on the prescription it said this medication could interfere with the results of blood glucose readings…
it was fasting actually.
I am 60 and have been working very hard to exercise as well as watch my diet— both quantity and quality since two months ago when I took a blood glucose test and was shocked to discover it’s as high as 180.
My progress so far includes 120-130 of morning pre-meal blood glucose level; weight loss of 22 lbs; and average blood pressure/pulse read as 110-60-60 instead of 130-75-75 (I’ve taken blood pressure medication for years, and just cut it from one pill to 1/2 pill a day on my own and so far for days the reading has steadily stayed at current level.)
Despite so many positive progress, my frustration and major concern lie in the standstill of my blood glucose level, which fast dropped in the first couple of weeks then have stayed ever since within 120-130, still above the normal range. I need your experience and opinions telling me if I still have hope to improve without resorting to diabetic medication.
Do you feel a little down and disappointed when you test your blood sugar and it's too high?

My blood sugar is almost always pretty good, but this morning when I tested it myself it was too high, and just my luck, first thing today I had to present myself to the lab for my fasting blood sugar test and I have to see the doctor in a few days. I’m counting on the lab work to show a more accurate picture than my home glucometer does, but I work really hard to control this with exercise, diet and maintaining a normal weight, so I’ve been kind of bummed out today and I’m afraid I’m going to get a medication adjustment. Does the same thing happen to you?
Thank you, everyone, for your kind responses.
I understand the normal range is between 4-7 and my nans was 9.8 which I consider to be high, she has high blood pressure and is on medication for that.
Many thanks xx
Ok as you might have figured out I recently had the sugar test done when you are pregnant. And I was above the average by 15 points. It was non fasting so not sure if that played a part in it being slightly above average. I go next Wednesday for the 3 hour blood sugar test, which is a fasting test. 3 days prior to the test I am supposed to carb load 200 grams for the 3 days, and then fast for 12 hours the day before the test. I understand that part.
My question is this. How can I lower my sugar without medication or insulin?
And for the carb loading what are some healthy options?
Thanks to those who take the time to answer. I hope my question was clear enough.
Blood Sugar?

Last week I was diagnoised with type II diabetes. I weighed in at 267 pounds. My glucose reading was 230 (normal is 107 or below). Since then I’ve cut out sugar completely as well as carbs. It will be a little over week tomorrow and my weight is at 252, my sugar count has gone down dramatically. for example, today before dinner it was 108, 2 hrs after it was 128. It’s getting lower. I haven’t started the blood sugar medication my dr. put me on because I’m afraid it will make it go down really low. Am I really diabetic? My A1C was at a 9.7, normal is below 7. On my present course of weight loss and diet and judging from what I’ve wrote here, do you think it’s possible to reverse the diabetes type II condition? and should i take the medication with the numbers I’ve mentioned here?
Hi, i have just diagnosed with diabetes after my health screening. Is my level 275mg/dl very high n need medication? Can i control my glucose by exercise, n diabetic diet without any medication?

blood sugar?

Had some blood tests taken about a month ago and i went back to the doctor wednesday to review the blood tests. He said everything was normal except my blood sugar was 100. The reason i went to the doctor is because i was having sleepy spells and my mind was foggy. I have days like where i just dont feel normal. Its like its my blood sugar causing it. Like today i got a little shakey and had to eat something. Then when i ate a sandwhich i got tired. The doctor told me that i was "pre-diabetic" and to cut down on what i eat and excersise. The night before i went to the doctor i slept 3 hours. The next day after i slept 8 hours i felt weird. Could it be my sleeping pattern causing my blood sugar to do this? Im 15 and yes im overweight. I want some advice on how to eat the right foods and excersise right. Or anyone who has diabeties how do they treat theres? The doctor didnt say anything about putting me on medication. He said to watch haha.
could a person with diabetes test positive for alcohol after drinking a lot of apple juice?

A friend of mine is not taking medication for diabetes because he has no money or insurance. He drank apple juice to try to keep his sugar level good and then he tested positive for alcohol. Could this be true?
I was getting ready to have him go to the free clinic when this occurred; he was living at a homeless shelter and they kicked him out; I don’t know where he is now but he does realize how important it is that he gets some medication/treatment for his diabetes.
