Does anyone know why they have to draw your blood, and why they don’t just use a glucose meter( the thing diabetics useto check their blood sugar levels)? Or is that an option and I don’t know about it? I am 28 weeks pregnant and I just went last week to my doctor to do the 1st glucose test…you know with the drink and waiting an hour for the blood draw thing. Well we just got a call today that I didn’t pass and I have to get the 3 hour (4 blood draw) test done now. I don’t mind too much its just the last 2 times they drew my blood I had a rediculously large bruse on my arm, that takes like 3 weeks to go away. And I was just seeing how I could avoid 4 more of those.

I have to take my 3 hour glucose test tomorrow. From what im told they end up taking your blood 4 times….My problem is,everytime i have ever had to have blood drawn (even little amounts) it is hard for the person drawing it to get blood,so how in the world am i supposed to have it drawn that many damn times?
For the first answer- i took the 1 hour test and it was abnormal which is why they are making me do the 3 hour

For the second- I really dont know what it is,i dont get nervous really,my blood just sucks i guess it might be tiny veins because they never get them to show up,and then when they start flowing theyll just stop or ill almost pass out.

(not a glucose test or donating blood, just a blood test)

I am being tested for P.C.O.S they are testing my glucose levels and other tests for my glucose test I had my blood sugar tested before they gave me the sugary drink and my blood sugar was normal does that mean I have diabetes?
DINOsour
yeah my level was 89

Last night, before eating, my blood sugar was normal. Then i ate 2 slices of wheat bread, 1 1/2 cups of fat free milk, 1/2 banana. Checked sugar after 45 minutes, it was 192. then, went back to normal when checked again after 1 hr and 15 mins. in short, it went back to normal aftr 2 hours. Today, my sugar was normal. ate 1/2 banana, checked after 45 mins, it was 114. For a normal person, how much is the blood sugar 45 mins. and 2 hours after eating all these stuff. I am still probably in denial of my diabetes. I am thinking I’m borderline and can turn back the clock by doing exercises. I am anemic too.

For my first lab test, my fasting was 121. (did not do glucose test.

For my second lab test, fasting was 138 (I took antibiotic for acute bronchitis night before) and was really not feeling well. Then, glucose test of 164.

What do you think?
I just want to compare blood sugar levels of a normal person and a diabetic after eating all these stuff.
i’m sorry. i think i have done my own testings wrong. i did not adjust my monitor to the right code. strips were code 16 and monitor was code 18. with this case, how innaccurate will the monitor be? after adjusting the code, i was 106 2 hours after eating 1 cup of brown rice and chicken. this morning, it was 85 (fasting). 2 hrs after eating 1 slice bread and a cup of milk, it was 85. i went to my dr. this AM she said i am doing fine. thank you all!

Hi folks does anyone know why doctor Maya sanghavi doesn’t do the regular blood glucose level test which is mandatory in US for the past 20 years or so, i just found out during my second pregnancy that it is important and I remember she never sent me for a glucose test.
Though she is a good doctor still I found her very annoying and very bossy and she thinks most patients are dumb.!!!

i am 30 weeks preg and my doctors office just called and said that i failed my one hour glucose test that i took on wed, blood sugar was 163 if that makes a difference, and that i need to go to the lab for a 3 hour test. they said if i failed that then i would have to go on a diabetic diet and test my blood sugar every day. i am wondering if anyone has failed their first test but passed the second or is there a good chance i will fail and have to do the diebetic stuff?

Hi, so I took some blood tests earlier this month and the results came back yesterday. The Doctor said I had a high blood glucose level (6.80) and I had to retake the test again on tuesday to make sure.
However, the glucose in my urine came back negative and today I took the glucose test where they prick the finger and it read 4.3. I was wondering if the first blood test might have made some mistake because it also said I had high allergies which is false.. I’m 17 by the way..

Which is more accurate? the first glucose test is always lower than the second test done from the same blood site.

i have been having headaches for the past two months. i did a CT scan of my brain , spine and sinus . However when i did a 2hr glucose test my results showed a result of 239. I also that did an ltrasound of my abdomen and heart and everything was ok except for a fatty liver . I am a little overweight though and i am 28 years. What i would like to know is _ do i ahve diabetes according to my results of 239
