About 2 weeks ago i went for blood work and they came back and said my blood sugar was high. They said that they have to give me a Thyroid check. Now i don’t have diabetes. But i am over weight. How can i get my blood sugar levels low because i do not wish to get diabetes. Ok thanks for your help

I am 24. Diabetes runs in my family anyways, so i figured I should probably get tested for it. So I went to the doctor and did all the diabetes testing where I had to drink that sweet stuff and then get my blood taken every hour. My results came back that my glucose level was at 365 and my a1c was 7.5? What does all this mean, my doctor didn’t really explain, he just seemed concerned and told me that I need to go the my primary physician to find out more…..
The doctor that wanted me to get all this blood work done was actually my gyno, so he can’t really do much about diabetes. I also was fasting the night before going in for the glucose testing and had the testing done at 8 AM. I am 5′3 and about 128 pounds and very active.
Thank you all for your feedback, it is all very helpful and I plan on going to a specialist ASAP.

I’ve taken the basic blood test for diabetes since I was a teenager. Blood work always comes back ok. The other night I was in bed flipping the channels. I don’t remember what channel I was on cause I was dosing off already. But I remember the lady saying for years her blood work would come back good. But she felt she might really be diabetic. She got a new doctor and the doctor was talking about a more accurate test to screen for diabetes. That even if the standard test comes back and you ain’t got diabetes you might accually have it. I was trying to stay up. But feel asleep. What is that more comprehensive test? I’d like to get more info before I see my doctor.
Forgot to mention… I did in fact take a fasting blood test this week and my dotor said my blood sugar was slightly high @ 102. and he told me that normal is less than 100, diabetes is greater than 126)

I was supposed to go have my blood work done for the gestational diabetes test between now and my last appointment. They gave me the lab slip and I just never went. I have an appointment this week and now I’m not sure what to do? Does EVERYONE need this done? I think I am having a completely normal pregnancy. I’m 29 weeks pregnant and this is my 2nd baby.

I asked a multi-part question yesterday and this one part was never answered. It is about my husband and his recent blood test. Last week, he was supposed to fast for 12 hours…only water…
and then have many things checked the next day via blood work. He screwed up and drank OJ and failed to tell the doc the following day.

His tests came back very concerning (although some of this isn’t new for him..like high triglycerides, for example). The ONE thing that was really high for him was his blood sugar count, which was in the 500s. He has had slightly elevated numbers in this area in the past but never like this.

Can drinking orange juice affect a fasting blood test THIS much…to raise it this high? I know it will raise it to a degree but this is a high number.

By the way, our doc is going to redo the test next week after my husband told him he drank juice…but I’m curious about this and didn’t have a chance to ask the doc.

Thank you.

I am 15. In the last month, I have been feeling very tired-sleep 10-12 hrs/day. I am always thirsty and am hungry a lot. I also urinate frequently. At times, my urine smells sweet. Are these symptoms of type 1 or 2 diabetes? and I get blood work every 3 months. Is the blood glucose test included in the NORMAL ROUTINE blood work preformed by most doctors?
I get blood work done every three months because I have mild Crohn’s Disease. And I also am taking a medication that regulates my thyroid gland so I shouldn’t be this tired. And type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease just like crohn’s so I was just wondering if there was a chance I had diabetes!

I got my blood work done two days ago. I was fasting for 12 hours before I went for my blood test. Doctor office called today and informed me that my blood sugar was 107. I will not able to get hold of my doctor till April 7th. Any suggestions what to do and eat in the interim? I have no family history of Diabetes. Am I at risk?

My husband just got his blood work back and from what I’m reading, anything under 7.0 is very good results. His doctor is telling him that his blood sugar is still too high and should be 5.9 or lower. Why does he want his sugar so low?

I want to get one so I can see what my blood sugar levels are.
I am not sure if I am diabetic but I have a feeling that I am, I have to wait until Friday to get my blood work back but I want to get an idea of what I am dealing with.
Which meters would you perfer?
I herd that using one can be painful so which meters don’t hurt as much to use.
Any information will be helpful.

Thanks.

I went to the doctor for irregular cycles and menstrual migraines.
My doctor after taking blood work decided to put me on Metformin.
My mother takes this for diabetes.
I asked the doctor what my fasting blood sugar was and she said it was a 84.
Unless I’m wrong 80-120 is normal blood sugar levels.
So since I’m on the low end of normalcy, is the Metformin going to lower my blood sugar too much?
