how would a dehydration affect the out come of a blood sugar test
I know high blood sugar can make you dehydration but what if you are dehydrated going into the test

I am 29 weeks pregnant. My fasting blood sugar test result was 86. My first result one hour after drinking the nasty glucola (100mg) was 202. My second result was 150 and my third was 136. So I clearly failed 1 of the 3 which according to everything I’ve read means I DO NOT have gestational diabetes. However, rather than the doctor calling to tell me what it does mean, some medical assistant calls to assure me that I don’t have GD but I do have glucose intolerance or impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). However she can’t really tell me what that means but instead emails me a meal plan for gestational diabetes and tells me a nutritionist will call me on Monday and then reassures me I don’t have GD. So now I have to go through the weekend with the following questions. Maybe someone out there can help me answer:
1. With IGT am I at risk of having gestational diabetes?
2. How is this going to effect my baby?
3. Why do I have to follow a GD menu plan if I don’t have GD?
4. How can the blood test be the only determining factor for IGT or GD if in my case all my urine samples have been normal, my blood pressure is perfect, I have no family history of diabetes, I’ve only gained 8 pounds in this pregnancy and I have no other symptoms?
5. Does having IGT mean that I am at risk for Type 2 diabetes later in life?
Also, what is the difference between having Gestational Diabetes and Impaired Glucose Tolerance if they are treated the same way?

The value range for the Glucose Tolerance Test is:
Fasting 95 mg/dl or higher
One hour 180 mg/dl or higher
Two hours 155 mg/dl or higher
Three hours 140 mg/dl or higher

And (not including the fasting results) a person only has to pass 2 of 3 to be cleared of GD. So the person who left the comment that a normal range is 80 to 120 is not correct for this scenario.

My mom’s diabetic and so is her entire family. She recently got the blood sugar test thing and she decided to do it on me. Well it’s only been like 45-50 after eating and my sugar is 134 and yesterday it was 155! Is this normal?

I know this is very confusing but you have to understand it properly before answering my question.

I’m going to hospital tomorrow for free blood sugar test. The doctor said you should not eat food or drinks water from 12:00am(wednesday) to 7:00 am(Check up time)(wednesday) because the results will not be accurate.

I did not eat anything but still drinking water from 8:00pm(monday) to 6:00am(tuesday)(I’m detoxing my body).

from 8:00pm(tuesday) I will not eat or drink anything becuase i’m going to sleep and i’m not going to be waken at 12:00am(tuesday) as the doctor said that don’t eat food or drink water from 12:00am(wednesday) to 7:00 am(Check up time)(wednesday).

Will they get the accurate results?

OK well i have been going to the doctor for 3 months asking for the 5 hour blood sugar test. I have all of the symptoms of diabetes and i have done all of the other tests that they made me do and they all came up negitive. So they gave me one last test and everything came out negitive once again and they promised me that i will get the 5 hour one after this one, that i just took. They want to give me that one again in a month and i am furiouse because they don’t want to mis-diagnose me but if they give me the 5 hour test that i wanted they would know if i have diabetes or not. so what should i do? 13 YEAR OLD GIRL, 117LBS
please don’t take the impression that i am desperate to be diagnosed.. i just allways feel so bad i really want to know why and this is the only thing left. so i don’t want diabetes its just the last thing i can be diagnosed with. and i just want to feel better
and they haven’t checked my blood sugar at all.

My blood sugar is almost always pretty good, but this morning when I tested it myself it was too high, and just my luck, first thing today I had to present myself to the lab for my fasting blood sugar test and I have to see the doctor in a few days. I’m counting on the lab work to show a more accurate picture than my home glucometer does, but I work really hard to control this with exercise, diet and maintaining a normal weight, so I’ve been kind of bummed out today and I’m afraid I’m going to get a medication adjustment. Does the same thing happen to you?
Thank you, everyone, for your kind responses.

I went to the doctors today after I noticed I was starting to drink and pee a lot, and I felt a bit tired after eating, especially in mid-afternoon. The doctor gave me a blood sugar test, and said I was fairly high, and is getting me to do more tests over the next few days. I am a bit worried about this, however about an hour before the test I ate a banana and a muesli bar. Two hours prior to this, I exercised for 45 minutes. Can these affect the results of a blood sugar test? Or is high blood sugar levels after consumption of these foods just typical diabetes? Please answer, I am 15 and need peace of mind before exams tomorrow.

So I have to go for the dreaded 3 hour blood sugar test tomorrow morning. What i dont understand is why you cant move around or walk around during the testing???? I dont remember that going on when I was preg with my daughter 4 years ago….is this new or what??
I understand I cant leave…..obviously….but why cant walk around the facility to pass time, or walk down a hall??

When I went in for the 1 hour test, the lady told me to sit back down cause I wasnt allowed to move around…..WHAT??!!
Can someone explain please, or did this lady not know what she was talking about?
I asked my ob office about it, and they said they never heard of that

My doc scheduled a panel of tests to be done the same day I visited her, but evidently forgot that one should fast before a blood sugar test. (If I had known that was one of the tests, I would have spoken up.)

Result of BS test: 105. Last year’s was 98.

The secretary said 105 was fine if I had eaten first. Well, I had – breakfast and lunch. The test was at 4:30 pm.

Does at 105 sound like anything to worry about, given the circumstances? She said they like it to be below 99, but having eaten first would raise the test #.
