If you’re about to tell me that insulin stores glucose in fat and muscle, anything about the Glycemic Index, etc then you’re wasting time. I know that already.
I want an INTENSELY CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY based answer to how specifically lowered blood sugar levels will motivate the body chemically to favor adipose tissue metabolism. Specifically, the question comes from cinnamon – I’d always assumed that since it was an insulin ’substitute’ that it would somehow be recognized by the receptors in the GI tract and tell the pancreas to lay off with insulin production, thus less glucose would be stored on a meal without cinnamon, but thinking of it that’s really just called insulin insensitivity so that was a retarded idea arising from lack of thought on the matter.
So if you still have all the insulin the meal would normally give, and you’ve stored more glucose in muscles and liver and fat, um… how’s that help you lose weight? Shit I’m outta room, read extra below….
Fat weight, of course (not muscle mass!)
Only thing I can figure is that it makes you store stuff, which burns more calories than you ate after it’s broken down again. Like, ok, insulin tells -> store! And the cells are like, ok; and active transports use energy to do the storage and atoms are bound and stuff happens so that while you ate and had in you 100 calories here, you really only end up storing a net of 85 in the end. Then your body says crap, low blood sugar – has to break down with glucogen taking more energy and tadah, you’ve burned more.
But usually since insulin is there it acts antagonistically with burning fat so lean muscle would be catabolized a lot then. SO that sounds bad for anyone who wants to be muscle large – this would only be good for women wanting to be stick thin.
Plus, while we’re at it, we get tired when blood sugar’s low yes? Why SPECIFICALLY? Are there receptors say in our pinkey toes that say to conserve energy, sugar’s low? DETAILS!?
Thanks!
Last night, before eating, my blood sugar was normal. Then i ate 2 slices of wheat bread, 1 1/2 cups of fat free milk, 1/2 banana. Checked sugar after 45 minutes, it was 192. then, went back to normal when checked again after 1 hr and 15 mins. in short, it went back to normal aftr 2 hours. Today, my sugar was normal. ate 1/2 banana, checked after 45 mins, it was 114. For a normal person, how much is the blood sugar 45 mins. and 2 hours after eating all these stuff. I am still probably in denial of my diabetes. I am thinking I’m borderline and can turn back the clock by doing exercises. I am anemic too.
For my first lab test, my fasting was 121. (did not do glucose test.
For my second lab test, fasting was 138 (I took antibiotic for acute bronchitis night before) and was really not feeling well. Then, glucose test of 164.
What do you think?
I just want to compare blood sugar levels of a normal person and a diabetic after eating all these stuff.
i’m sorry. i think i have done my own testings wrong. i did not adjust my monitor to the right code. strips were code 16 and monitor was code 18. with this case, how innaccurate will the monitor be? after adjusting the code, i was 106 2 hours after eating 1 cup of brown rice and chicken. this morning, it was 85 (fasting). 2 hrs after eating 1 slice bread and a cup of milk, it was 85. i went to my dr. this AM she said i am doing fine. thank you all!
I went to the doctors today after I noticed I was starting to drink and pee a lot, and I felt a bit tired after eating, especially in mid-afternoon. The doctor gave me a blood sugar test, and said I was fairly high, and is getting me to do more tests over the next few days. I am a bit worried about this, however about an hour before the test I ate a banana and a muesli bar. Two hours prior to this, I exercised for 45 minutes. Can these affect the results of a blood sugar test? Or is high blood sugar levels after consumption of these foods just typical diabetes? Please answer, I am 15 and need peace of mind before exams tomorrow.
About 2 weeks ago i went for blood work and they came back and said my blood sugar was high. They said that they have to give me a Thyroid check. Now i don’t have diabetes. But i am over weight. How can i get my blood sugar levels low because i do not wish to get diabetes. Ok thanks for your help
so now i just ate a couple slices of pizza with yogurt. so i will see what it is after that but should i wait an hour or 2? also i had a fasting glucose test that was 111 but it’s odd that my blood sugar level after work and not eating for several hours was 77…? why is it low now…? i have changed my diet the past 2 wks and have cut sugar and alot of carbs but i’m just wondering why the fluctuation…
fyi-i had the fasting blood test 2 wks ago and i know it’s the 3 month accumulation but i exercised before the test and also was taking an herb that causes a low/high blood sugar so i stopped taking that herb too.
no no no—i think you misunderstood…when i got tested for the fasting glucose test – i was taking that herb that tends to raise or lower blood sugar but it’s only what i read so ask your doctor before doing anything. it is fo-ti. i’m just wondering since my blood sugar is normal NOW if that was the cause of the elevated fasting blood sugar (111).
FYI i STOPPED taking fo-ti after the fasting test when i heard it could mess up my blood sugar levels…
Which one will make my blood sugar levels high faster?
I’m not a diabetic i just need my blood test to say that i have high blood sugar. Please don’t lecture me, i have my reasons.
Hello ladies.
I failed my 1 hr glucose tolerance test.
So now I have to do the crappy 3 hr one.
I was wondering if anyone knew if I could opt to get my blood sugar levels through finger pricks instead of blood draws at the lab.
Obviously I will ask the lab when I make my appointment, but was just curious if anyone else did this.
I have a REAL problem with needles and even made my Husband cry when I had my first blood draw.
Foods that will balance blood sugar levels properly?
I just checked my blood sugar levels just to see what it was (I’m not diabetic) my level was 107. I haven’t eaten anything for about 5 hours and the last thing I ate was a foot long chicken breast sub? Is this level normal after 5 hours of not eating anything else?
I am talking about blood sugar levels that occur when you test with your meter. (I am not talking about A1c levels.)
