Drop in blood sugar after glucose?
28/08/10
I recently had a blood glucose test. My doctor says my results were normal, but they seem goofy to me, although very non-diabetic.
Fasting -98 then drank the glucose – 75 units
1/2 hour 85 1 hour 69 1-1/2 hour 83 2 hour 70…
So I never went up above my fasting level and it dropped then went up and then down again. I had been fasting the 10 hours before and ate or drank nothing else (except water) during the test… Is this really normal?
I am 60 and have been working very hard to exercise as well as watch my diet— both quantity and quality since two months ago when I took a blood glucose test and was shocked to discover it’s as high as 180.
My progress so far includes 120-130 of morning pre-meal blood glucose level; weight loss of 22 lbs; and average blood pressure/pulse read as 110-60-60 instead of 130-75-75 (I’ve taken blood pressure medication for years, and just cut it from one pill to 1/2 pill a day on my own and so far for days the reading has steadily stayed at current level.)
Despite so many positive progress, my frustration and major concern lie in the standstill of my blood glucose level, which fast dropped in the first couple of weeks then have stayed ever since within 120-130, still above the normal range. I need your experience and opinions telling me if I still have hope to improve without resorting to diabetic medication.
I would like to know an approximate amount of sugars and carbohydrates are in a blood glucose test for gestional diabetes. I’ve had it with the first pregnancy and now with the second and the count was very high (over 200). It was the orange liquid I had to drink (both times). It looked like it was a little more than a cup of liquid. Thanks for your help.
question about blood glucose test..?

yesterday morning i went for a blood glucose test, 2 hour. and when they took my blood sample BEFORE the drink it was 92.. is that normal? plus after i drank the sugary drink they took my blood again, but didnt tell me the numbers. saying how it was 92 do you think that i would be in the range of diabetes after drinking the drink?
I have the blood glucose test in the morning. I know they have to draw blood three times and I will have to drink that gross sugar drink. I HATE needles and become all panic like. What else can you tell me about the test? How bad is the drink?
It is a blood glucose test, I have had them done repeatedly over the years and they are always negative. I just have a borderline high blood sugar, been that way for 36 years. I did have some other blood workups done regarding the same problem for her all of them returned borderline. She then refused to refill the my meds till I have the bloodtest done. Is this considered etheical? They are for heart and stroke problems.
Some doctors use 1 hour blood glucose test with a target of less than 130. Others use 2 hour test with a target of less than 120.
What will be the impact if my blood sugars are around 160 to 170 after one hour and around or little less than 120 after two hours?
I am 15. In the last month, I have been feeling very tired-sleep 10-12 hrs/day. I am always thirsty and am hungry a lot. I also urinate frequently. At times, my urine smells sweet. Are these symptoms of type 1 or 2 diabetes? and I get blood work every 3 months. Is the blood glucose test included in the NORMAL ROUTINE blood work preformed by most doctors?
I get blood work done every three months because I have mild Crohn’s Disease. And I also am taking a medication that regulates my thyroid gland so I shouldn’t be this tired. And type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease just like crohn’s so I was just wondering if there was a chance I had diabetes!
