I just started going to a new doctor, and I had blood tests done to check my blood glucose and chloroestrol (sp). I had my blood drawn over 2 weeks ago and have not heard anything back. How long does these test usually take, and do I have to call the office or will they mail something?

I had my one hour blood glucose challenge test this morning and my sugar when I left was 135 i was wondering what the cut off is, as in will 135 make me have to take the 3 hour one or no? I also know that finger sticks can be as much as15 points higher than when the blood is drawn but any answers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

age 23. newly diagnosed diabetic. taking metformin and insulin (10 units) once in the morning. just tested my blood glucose because my eyes were hurting and it was at 415. no insurance. called the health clinic to get advice. no one available to answer. is it safe to take another dose of insulin to get my numbers down fast?

Hi,
I may be diabetic and need to know about testing?
What is the procedure used to test for blood glucose. Why would someone want to perform the test? Which glucose would you look for? And what are the chemical reactions and procedures that occur during the test?.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much..

Went to doc for physical this week and fasting blood glucose was 119; scheduled for recheck next week with additional follow-up if still high. This morning, having not eaten in 10 hours, I checked using my husband’s glucometer, and level was at 130. Checked the machine to ensure it was calibrated appropriately and checked again. Upon recheck, within minutes, it then read 117. (OK, still too high for fasting, but…..)
Why does it fluctuate like that?

I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant and have had low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) since I was 12. My doctor set me up for my blood glucose screening when I am 28 weeks. I am not allowed to eat anything past midnight the night before and I have to be in at 8:30 to drink a large glass of that syrupy stuff, wait and hour and then get to leave after I have some blood drawn. So my question is, how is this test going to effect me since I have low blood sugar? I already can’t eat anything sweet or full of carbs (such as pancakes or pop tarts) first thing in the morning because it makes my sugar crash and I end up getting heart palpitations, I get dizzy and I feel so bad I just want to die. Is drinking that stuff going to do the same thing? And if so, is that ok for me and my baby to go through? I’m just really dreading the awful feeling that I know I’m going to get by drinking that junk first thing in the morning. Anyone else with low blood sugar ever experienced this before? How was it for you?

what should i take care to level my blood glucose

I am a type 2 Diabetic. I have prescription meds, but I have recently read about supplements you can take that claim to lower blood glucose. If you have taken them can you let me know how they effected you? I am not the average type 2, I am 5′3 and 105 pounds, I am extremely insulin resistant, I would like to hear from someone in a similar situation. Please do not tell me hearsay, I want genuine first hand experience.
