I’ve been recently diagnosed with hypoglycemia (unknown cause, waiting for an appointment) meanwhile I’m testing my blood before dinner and 1 hour after i eat. what does that mean if my blood test always shows the drop in the level after I eat (for example, 111 before food and 87 after)?

Hello ladies.
I failed my 1 hr glucose tolerance test.
So now I have to do the crappy 3 hr one.
I was wondering if anyone knew if I could opt to get my blood sugar levels through finger pricks instead of blood draws at the lab.
Obviously I will ask the lab when I make my appointment, but was just curious if anyone else did this.
I have a REAL problem with needles and even made my Husband cry when I had my first blood draw.

I was supposed to go have my blood work done for the gestational diabetes test between now and my last appointment. They gave me the lab slip and I just never went. I have an appointment this week and now I’m not sure what to do? Does EVERYONE need this done? I think I am having a completely normal pregnancy. I’m 29 weeks pregnant and this is my 2nd baby.

What all should I expect? I had the one hour one and failed it, so now i have the wonderful three hour test to do. And I can’t eat or drink ANYTHING after 12 tonight.

Also I am having my regular appointment tomorrow to. At 30 weeks what should I expect.

Also last thing, if I do have the gestational diabetes test will they do another ultrasound and everything. I know they told me they will do one around 34-36 weeks ( i believe) but what about if I have gestational diabetes. And if i do have it what will have to do then

i have an appointment tomorrow to do the gestational diabetes testing..today i drank a soda, and im craving another sprite right now :(
is there anything i can do so my glucose level will be fine??
i have never had diabetes or anything,..but im scared that tomorrow my sugar levels will be high..anything that can help me?

i have to make an appointment for a gestational diabetes test soon. i am thinking about not making the appointment because i don’t want any sugar in my body. i do not consume any sugar whatsoever. even when i wasn’t pregnant i never had sugar. i hate candy i hate soda i hate all foods that have sugar. so i am wondering is if i have to make the appointment? i am not willing to put sugar in my body against my will.

I have been asked by my doctor to have the fasting blood glucose test because he is worried that I may have diabetes. The clinic can’t get me in for an appointment until the 21st which is well over a week away and to be honest i really dont want to wait that long. if i got my friend to do it who is a qualified nurse on sunday, will the specimen last until monday if i keep it in the fridge overnight?

I am 25 weeks along, and seeing my Dr. today for my monthly visit. I think this is the month where he will schedule me for GD testing–do they usually do that while I’m in the office for my appointment, or will they schedule a separate appointment for me to come back and have the testing done? What does the test involve? Thanks!

I have gestational diabetes. My doctor called in a prescription to my pharmacy (Rite Aid) on Friday evening. The guy working there told me that Tricare wouldn’t cover any of the cost and Medicare (Part B) wouldn’t pay for it because my doctor didn’t give a "diagnostic code". I asked how much it would cost without insurance. The guy said that he would call my doctor on Monday and see about either changing my prescription to something Tricare would cover or giving the diagnostic code so Medicare would cover it. I went back Saturday and today, and got the same answer.
I’m supposed to have the testing supplies by Monday, to take to my doctor/diabetes educator/nutritionist appointment in the afternoon.
I’m hoping that everything works out with my insurance so I won’t have to pay, but if not, I’ll have to pay out of pocket (if I can afford it).

About how much does diabetes testing supplies (meter thing, strips, needles, whatever else I’ll need) cost? (I won’t need insulin.)

So, I have to make a doc appointment because I’ve been having a lot of weird symptoms similar to Diabetes and Hypotension. So, I want to know what the test is. Blood test? Is the testing painful?
